This philosophers stone is a living person, in fact a homunculus, that has created all other homunculus and controls them o__o in real fact, he is the only REAL philosophers stone that has ever been created.

Yes, it looks totally similar to Van Hohenheim and is called Father. A person like Dante does not exist in the manga. To create such a real philosophers stone, thounsands and tenthounsdans of people have to be sacrificed. That was also, indeed, the only purpose of the war in Ishbal. The Ishbalians were only the sacrifice to create the philosophers stone. Right now, Van Hohenheim faces the father while Ed and Scar fight alongside to protect the Main City.

And I think in the manga there are also peple from a land named Xing (I think that was the name but I´m not totally sure ^^ whose prince is searching after the eternal life to become king of his land. He becomes a friend of Ed and later gets willingly taken over by the dead Greed to achieve eternal life. Then Ed decides to obey his orders to get his help by destroying the homunculi.
